ConsumerTrack Inc. is an Internet marketing firm that specializes in lead generation and customer acquisition. The company is based in Los Angeles California and was founded in 2003.

The online marketing industry has grown rapidly over the past 10-12 years growing from $0 to over $20 billion in revenue in 2007.[1] Growth in this industry is spurred by the fact that most internet marketing campaigns are track-able down to the individual consumer, and this data can be received in real time allowing advertisers to optimize media buys, improve non-performing campaigns and allocate advertising budgets more efficiently.

Advertisers are more frequently starting to choose to increase their marketing and advertising budgets towards internet marketing because of the ability to track, often in real time, the value of the money spent. For example, in traditional advertising, such as spending millions of dollars on a Super Bowl ad and not really knowing the impact it had on its sales or brand awareness, versus spending millions of dollars on Internet Marketing and tracking that campaign to see that it generated several millions of dollars in sales, brand awareness and/or actions taken on a company's website or an "800" number. It is difficult to track the success of a TV commercial or billboard.

One of the largest segments of the internet marketing industry (outside of search marketing) is lead generation. Lead Generation has made a large impact in the growth of the mortgage industry during the refinance boom from 2002-2006 and the rapid growth in online education sites and companies. Lead generation has also assisted the rise in the payday loan or cash advance industry by making it very simple for consumers to get a short term loan, along with helping people get out of credit card debt and improve their credit.

Lead generation is the practice of identifying potential customers, and delivering those sales opportunities to a client that can serve that customer’s needs or wants. In the online space various direct response methods are used to drive traffic to web properties owned and managed by the firm. Traffic goals are achieved from working relationships with media partners, such as email marketers, ad and/or affiliate networks, as well as other online marketing techniques like as SEO and SEM.

These various marketing channels continue to grow and improve helping advertisers more efficiently reach their target audiences and allow them to dedicate more resources to market to these consumers and make their advertising campaigns more successful.

Internet Marketing companies also can often better survive in recessions or slowing economies, because many focus on providing customer acquisition services to their clients. Whether the economy is strong or weak, most businesses need new customers to grow and thrive. This allows the demand for the services of lead generation and customer acquisition companies consistent in a variety of industries.

ConsumerTrack's business model allows customers to "hedge their risks"[2], because they are only charged for qualified leads, thus increasing their return on investment (ROI).

ROI is what often sets internet marketing apart from more traditional advertising like TV, newspapers or radio because of the ability to track performance and in many instances view the exact revenue generated from every media buy and marketing spend.   • ConsumerTrack’s website GoFreeCredit.com become a member of the Better Business Bureau Online in February 2008.[4]
  • ConsumerTrack participated in a large domain sale, acquiring the primary address USBankingRates.com and approximately 600 geo-targeted versions of the URL.
