[edit] Background
Constance is an investigator for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, determining if Ignacio Suarez is eligible to remain in the United States. Initially she is hostile to Ignacio, but after he gives her a gift (a mug with the words "World's Best Immigration Caseworker" painted on it) she softens toward him. She begins to act inappropriately, showing up unannounced to cook meals for Ignacio. Her former boyfriend (a taxi driver who is also an immigrant), in response to Ignacio calling him, warns him that Constance has a history of seducing her clients, using her power over them to make them comply with her desires.
However, her constant obsession with Ignacio would reach the boiling point when she suspected Claire Meade of trying to seduce him, even after learning from Hilda that he was a ladies' man. After the two fight it out, Ignacio sets the record straight that he wasn't in love with Claire or Constance. Constance in turn responds by placing an ankle bracelet on Ignacio so she can monitor his every move until his hearing.
But in the episode "Punch Out", it turns out that Constance never turned in any paperwork to the USCIS; She was fired two months earlier for being too involved with her clients. Constance would also trick Ignacio into marrying her, but when Hilda arrive in time to press charges, Ignacio told her not to and in the end forgave Constance.
