[edit] Onyx Software Corporation

Onyx Software Corporation is a producer of customer process management software and solutions for enterprise organizations. Onyx focuses on dynamic software that allows organizations to automate customer interaction processes. Onyx provides customer management, process management, and performance management (analytics) capabilities.

Onyx has more than 1300 customers in a variety of industries.

Onyx was formerly a public company listed on NASDAQ. On August 1, 2006, Onyx shareholders approved[3] an earlier agreement[4] to be acquired by Made2Manage Systems (now Consona). The acquisition has resulted in a large reduction in force of Onyx employees.[5]

This transaction came despite a hostile offer[6] by CDC Software (a unit of CDC Corporation) to buy Onyx. CDC claimed this offer to be "superior" to the Made2Manage Systems (now Consona)offer, and criticized the breakup fee attached to that offer. Onyx issued a statement,[7] calling CDC's offer "vague," "disingenuous" and "unpredictable". CDC then launched a cash tender offer[8] to purchase all of the outstanding shares of common stock of Onyx directly from shareholders, but subsequently withdrew this offer.[9]
