[edit] Inter-county

O’Mahony first started playing inter-county hurling with the Tipperary minor team in the early 2000s. He won a Munster minor medal at midfield in 2001, with another provincial victory coming in 2002 with O’Mahony playing at centre-forward. In 2003 he had graduated onto the Tipperary under-21 team. In the Munster final O’Mahony came on as a substitute and scored a goal against Cork in extra-time to clinch victory for Tipp. The following year he captured a second consecutive Munster under-21 medal.

O’Mahony later joined the Tipperary senior hurling panel. He made his senior debut in a National Hurling League game against Antrim in 2005, before later securing a place on the starting fifteen in the Munster Championship. Since then O’Mahony has played in two Munster finals, however, he has yet to have any success at senior level.
