Connie Zweig

Connie Zweig, Ph.D. is a United States Jungian-oriented therapist, nondenominational minister, and bestselling author. In her most famous books, Meeting the Shadow and Romancing the Shadow, she advocates getting in touch with the “dark side” of human consciousness as a means of personal and spiritual growth. Zweig’s therapeutic method follows the Freudian and Jungian concept of an unconscious mind, in which psychological problems are attributable to factors we are not fully aware of.

The Holy Longing, a more recent book, explores the desire for religious knowledge as another aspect of the Jungian shadow. For many, religious exploration can result in disillusionment, abuse, and betrayal. Zweig argues that rather than try to satiate religious desire, we should use it as a means of personal growth and creative expression.

Dr. Zweig is a former writer for Esquire magazine and the Los Angeles Times, and holds a doctorate in depth psychology. She has taught seminars nationwide on meditation, spirituality, religious disillusionment, and shadow work.
