[edit] History
Congo River Rapids first opened in 1986 named Grand Canyon Rapids and was part of the Aqua Land area of the park. The ride entrance was located where the path to Katanga Canyon starts in Mutiny Bay today. It was moved in 1992 when the area inside the rapids circuit was developed into Katanga Canyon. The boats originally held six riders and were later exchanged for higher capacity eight seat boats to increase passenger throughput.
[edit] The Real Rapids
The real Congo River Rapids lie on the outskirts of Brazzaville in the Republic of the Congo, where the Djoué River meets the Congo.
