Conelrad is an American heavy metal duo from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The group formed in early 2001 and takes it's name from the CONELRAD civil defense program of the 1950s and 60's. [1]
The band was active from 2001 until mid 2005 when the band was put on a temporary hiatus. Sporadic activity since then has seen only 2 performances and the release of a 7-inch EP.
In recent times, the group have dropped hints at new material and possible live shows. [2]

[edit] Style
The band's sound is a mix ofhardcore, punk, thrash metal, grindcore, death metal and free tmprovisation. While the metal aspects are most prevalent the group tends to avoid altogether the standard "Death Metal Growl" vocals in exchange for a more manic shouting and often spoken sections. The songs are often short and tend to contain many different musical shifts and abrupt transitions. Lyrically the songs take on a negative slant and focus around personal failure, paranoia and self-loathing. Even still, there is often a sense of humor evident in the lyrics.
