Conditum Paradoxum is a spiced wine of Ancient Rome. The Latin name translates roughly as "wine of spice and surprise". A recipe for Conditum Paradoxum was given in the classical cookbook Apicius or De re coquinaria and includes the following ingredients: wine, honey, pepper, mastic, laurel, saffron, date seeds and dates soaked in wine.[1]
