[edit] Launch
Portfolio's April 2007 launch was heavily reported on due, in part, to its large estimated budget reported to be from $100 million[3] - $125 million[4] (covering multiple years of operation), as well as the boldness of Condé Nast to launch a business magazine at a time when similar, pre-existing magazines, such as Fortune, Forbes, Business 2.0 are struggling to sell advertising space.[4]
The second issue released in September 2007 and subsequent issues released monthly afterwards. [1]
[edit] Staff
The magazine's 100-person editorial staff[1] is led by editor-in-chief, Joanne Lipman. During her 22-year tenure at the Wall Street Journal, Lipman was involved in the founding of the Weekend Journal, as well as the Personal Journal.[5] Lipman was able to get numerous notable journalists to leave other publications to come work for her.
