Concord Rangers F.C. is a football club based on Canvey Island in Essex, England.

[edit] History

The club was formed in 1967 by club president Alber Lant.

The club gained the land which houses the Thames Road stadium back in 1985.

Concord Rangers won an Essex Intermediate League double in the season 1990-1991, this was when the real progress started.

Concord were denied promotion to the Isthmian League in 1998 after winning the Essex Senior League, following this, mostly all the players, coaches, management team, and the chairman left.

One who remained was Lee Patterson, who took over as 1st team manager.

The club won the Essex Senior League title once again in 2003-2004, but still remained at that level for the next season. This lead to some plyers leaving, namely current Great Wakering Rovers F.C. stalwart Nikki Beale.

Under the current management team of ex - Great Wakering Rovers F.C. legend Danny Scopes, and former Brentwood Town F.C. and AFC Hornchurch player Danny Cowley, the club have had arguably their most successful season, in what is the 40th anniversary of the team.

They are the winners of the 2007-2008 Essex Senior Football League winning the title by goal difference on the last day of the season against Barkingside F.C at the Oakside Stadium.

They will be playing next term 2008-2009 in the Isthmian League Division One North.

They are also the winners of the 2007-2008 Gordon Brasted Trophy (formerly the Harry Fisher Memorial Trophy), defeating fellow Essex Senior Football League side Eton Manor F.C 3-2 at Leslie Field, the home of Burnham Ramblers F.C.

The side is currently captained by Dan Trenkel, who like many in the squad have played at higher echelons of the non-league system. Trenkel has previously played for Great Wakering Rovers F.C., Burnham Ramblers F.C., and Chelmsford City F.C, and earlier in his career trialled with professional side Southend United F.C.

Current 1st team manager Danny Scopes once scored the goal that saved his former club, Great Wakering Rovers F.C. from relegation on the final day of their Southern Football League campaign, where Scopes, like Trenkel, Gary Ewers, and recentley retired John Heffer, were great servants to the club.

Forward Danny Heale currently holds the Essex Senior League goalscoring record for this , his total of 46 goals this season eclipsing the previous total set by Scottish marksman David Hope of Bowers United now Bowers and Pitsea F.C.. The former Tottenham Hotspur F.C. youth player who can count Peter Crouch and Ledley King among his former playing colleagues, returned to the club after a treble winning season with AFC Hornchurch, and has continued his impressive form. His father Bill Heale was also a notable goalscorer for the club.

The club also run a reserve side who compete in the Essex and Herts Border Combination League. They will be managed in the coming season by former Concord Rangers F.C. goalkeeper, Danny Clare, who as a player, made an appearance on Sky Sports. During a game against Haringey Borough F.C., one of his clearances rebounded off an opposition player straight into the net, giving him the nickname 'poor-old' as this was how he was described by the Sky Sports presenter.
