In the Japanese translation of the original Transformers, the name of the Cybertron (Autobot in the US) leader was called Convoy (Optimus Prime). Since then other Cybertron leaders were usually called Convoy or had Convoy in their name.

There have, of course, been exceptions such as the famous Star Saber, who led the Cybertrons in Transformers Victory. Despite being the leader of the Cybertrons and greatly resembling a Convoy in terms of appearance (especially the head), he was not identified as a Convoy.

The opposite number of the Convoys are the Emperors of Destruction.

[edit] Transformers: Galaxy Force

In the Galaxy Force (Transformers: Cybertron in the US) introduced five new Convoys to the series, one for each major Planet in the series. These included Galaxy Convoy of Cybertron (Optimus Prime), Nitro Convoy of Speedia (Override), Flame Convoy of Animatros (Scourge), Live Convoy of Earth (Evac) and Megalo Convoy of Gigalonia (Metroplex).
