This category consists of species and other taxa where either

• the taxonomic validity is disputed, for example because they are suspected to be hybrids or junior synonyms,
• the origin is unclear,
• the very existence are disputed; unlike most cryptids there exists some sort of scientific evidence (observations, paintings etc) that these animals indeed once existed or even still do
