  • Update: Add {{update}} to the top of the article.
  • NPOV: Add the article to Category:NPOV disputes. See Wikipedia:Cleanup resources for tags that will do this.
  • Copy edit: Add the article to Category:Wikipedia articles needing copy edit. See Wikipedia:Cleanup resources for tags that will do this.
  • Wikify: Add {{wikify}} to the top of the article.
  • Merge: Add the article to Category:Articles to be merged. See Wikipedia:Cleanup resources for tags that will do this.
  • Cleanup: Add {{cleanup}} to the top of the article. It will be automatically sorted by month of tagging, and the oldest requests featured. But see Wikipedia:Cleanup resources for tags for more specific problems. Add a note to the article's talk page if it might not be obvious to everyone exactly what needs to be cleaned up.
  • Style: Add {{cleanup-tone}} to the top of the article.
  • Expansion: Add a note to the article's talk page explaining what needs to be added. Put the {{expansion}} tag at the top of your note.
  • Verify: Add {{verify}} to the top of the article.
  • Stubs: Add {{stub}} to the bottom of the article, or more preferably, find the appropriate stub tag from Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types and put that at the bottom of the article. Stubs are sorted by topic to make it more likely that interested editors will find them. However, if the article is linked to enough to be featured on Wikipedia:Most wanted stubs, it will also be featured here.
  • Requested articles: If you make an explicit request by following the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested articles, your request will either get filled by an interested editor, or eventually end up on Wikipedia:Articles requested for more than a year and be featured here. If appropriate, you can also make a link to the non-existent article from an existing one. If the implied request is not filled, and other articles also link to the same non-existent title, your request will end up on Wikipedia:Most wanted articles, and it will be featured here.

There are tens of thousands of articles eligible to be featured on this page. As you can see from the above mechanisms, Pearle sometimes tries to find the oldest, "most wanted", or most under-publicized requests. So it may take a while for your article to appear here. In other cases, newer requests are given priority, so you might actually see your article pop up here tomorrow. In any case, rest assured that once you've tagged it, other readers and editors will notice it, and the article will (eventually) get fixed.

If you feel that it is Very Important for an article to be fixed Right Away, it might be better to:

The last line or two of the templates are reserved for links to specific projects or lists of general-interest projects that are active and deserving of attention from a lot of editors. These are not automatically updated, so feel free to edit them as you see fit.

It is a questionable practice to implement the "Requests" as red links. The problem has to do with has dependencies are propigated via templates. The problem is that people who put the "Opentask" template on a page that does not change often, like their user page or their talk page (and then abandon their account), they freeze the dependencies at that point. That effects things like "What links here" and some of the ofhter reports in Specialpages, (like, "wantedpages"). Dead accounts from over a year ago who have not updated their user or talk page still remember the dependencies from the states of the "OpenTask" template at the time that they were last updated.

For instance, look at "Louisiana Public Service Commission". "What links here" reports almost 1000 dependencies and those are going to persist for a long time because a bunch of otherwise inactive user talk pages that use the "Opentask" template were recently updated. Maybe there is some other technique (and if not, perhaps a new feature request is in order) to cause a page to refresh its dependencies. -- 69.181.75.76 19:57, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

I returned the font size to 85%, where it has been for a while. 100% makes this template wrap to 3 lines per category on the Community Portal, which makes the column it is in too long. Also, the Mediation Cabal line is at 85%, and they should match. If a font size increase is desired (I'm not sure why), then we should consider reducing the number of characters per line. I can adjust the parameter Pearle uses to determine this, if necessary. -- Beland 19:14, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stubs

I noticed people removing a lot of non-stubs from the stubs line. Wikipedia:Most wanted stubs had accumulated a lot of non-stubs because it now needs to be purged manually. I went through that entire page and removed all the non-stubs I could find. But if you see a non-stub listed as a stub in the future, the best thing to do is to remove it from the MWS list, so it won't appear here again later.-- Beland 19:07, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

This may not be the right place to post this but I can't sort out where else to ask. I noticed the External Link section has only one link. I'm rather an art fan, so I planned on entering links to the article to various resources that I find interesting. However, they seem to be continually removed. I'm not complaining, I'm asking, are external links to resources something not to put here? I realize this article is kinda special. I just don't want to be making work for people, or stepping out of bounds here. If it's not something that is wanted thats fine with me. Please advise.

I would like to see a discussion about these two, for example Intels line of dual cores vs there pentium D (dual processors), the discussion can include advantages + disadvantages, this discussion would help new computer buyers like myself who still have questions on getting a cheap PD or an expensive Dual-core, i mean which is cost effective and ext...

Hmmm, I have definitely fixed some of the things there (and not only today, which I'm willing to assume is because the bot hasn't updated yet), but it's been several days now, and I'm not noticing any changes to the list. Does no-one else use this list to find things to do? Or does it simply not update? Or is it just me? -- Leviel 10:33, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Gold Coast City Art Gallery

I currently edited Gold Coast City Art Gallery, and it's still on the Wikify list, could someone check it to see if it still belongs in the list, and one of it's links (Gold Coast Art Centre) wasn't on wikipedia, so i completely created it, all 11 headlines and everything in them, could someone check that too. [edit] New pages patrolle: unpatrolled pages

[edit] Either More... or Backlog... but not both, please

Each of the tasks on this page (ie. Wikipedia:Community_Portal/Opentask) ends with either Backlog... (eg. Verify: ... list ... Backlog...) or More... (eg. Copyedit: ... list ... More....

Is there a reason for this? If not, can I change them all to More...?

I came to this Opentask page, not to look for opentasks, but as another step in trying to educate myself about how Wikipedia works. And this little inconsistency put me into a muddle for a few minutes.
