[edit] So...

Why would an "intolerant", "narrow-minded", "bigot", i.e. Christian be interested in being part of such an open, free thinking project?

Well for starters, I have recently found a desire to live out some bible based principals to the fullest extent possible.

  1. From an Old Testament proverb: Buy truth, and do not sell it; buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding. - Prov. 23:23
  2. From a New Testament letter: Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. - Phl 4:8

I believe the principals expressed in these two passages coincide well with the stated goals and purpose of this web project. I have been very impressed by the quality of many of the articles I have read at this site (in fact my first exposure to the existence of Wikipedia was a google search on lenses while I was doing research on creating a realistic model of a magnifying glass using POV-Ray.) It is my sincere hope that this site is around for a very long time and becomes the valuable resource to the community of "open" computer users it is intended to be.

[edit] Regarding My Christian World View...

I fully support Wikipedia's policy of NPOV and encourage users to examine my contributions to ensure I am successfull in adhereing to it, as from time to time, I will be examining yours as well. Feel free to edit mercilessly, but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! take the time to give me a little feed back as to how I can improve my writing to better meet this honorable standard. At present, I plan to avoid visiting articles I KNOW will be controversial as I am sure they are already "hot" enough. I am more interested in the accuracy of the technical articles at this time any how.

Actually, I believe God is a big boy (apologies to the feminists) and can take care of himself.

Apologies to the religionists if this seems like a cop-out. Apologies to the atheists if this seem like a threat.

In regards to the supposed need for censorship of this site...

If I beleve in God, then I must also believe that he himself must be tolerant of differences in ideas (at least temporarily) otherwise there would be lots of lightning bolts flying around. In fact, I would probably be trying to hop out of the way myself more often than not. I believe this is an important part of the Christian concept of grace.
