[edit] Western New England College

I'd like my edit to that template, changing "Western New England" to "Western New England College" to be made. I work at Western New England College and we never refer to the College as Western New England. Please let me know your thoughts. 18:06, 2 May 2008 (UTC)Bpayne4001

Since you work at the college, you should in almost all cases refrain from making edits related to the college; see WP:CONFLICT. Further, on the conference templates the short form of a school's name is always used, except when doing so leads to ambiguity; this aligns with common practice in collegiate athletics. When you look at the Big 12 standings, you do not see "University of Kansas", "Kansas State University", etc.; you see "Kansas" and "Kansas State". The format of the templates reflects this.
Insofar as WNEC is often referred to as simply Western New England, especially in the athletic media (see d3hoops.com's listing of Northeast Region schools for one specific example; see the Commonwealth Coast Conference website itself for yet another), the assertion that the short form is never used is flawed. Were this not in reference to athletics, you would be correct and would have my support. Unfortunately, that's not the case. The shorter form should be used in the template. Hope that clears things up. -JFMorse (talk) 08:15, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
