[edit] Final Fantasy VII Spinoff Category
Hmmm. I'm not exactly sure if the Snowboarding game has been officially put into the Compilation of FFVII or not. I assumed that the people who wanted to know information about the Compilation would naturally be interested Final Fantasy VII fans, and a little bit of extra knowledge can't hurt. As mentioned by you, I don't think 2 articles will suffice. I still say we keep the two titles there, but have it say "Not part of Compilation". Renegade Zero 05:51, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- It hasn't: it's just a reasonably cute little cell phone game, and has gone through not of the extensive development of the other Compilation games. I'm not even sure it was developed by the same production crew (Nomura and Kitase), and it's never, to my knowledge, been mentioned as part of the compilation. My concern is that including things like the Snowboarding game kind of recreates the article as a something much more broad than it actually is: it's not Final Fantasy VII spin-offs, it's about a distinct series of games. It would perhaps make more sense, IMO, to have a link to the Final Fantasy VII technical demo and Final Fantasy VII Snowboarding from the main Final Fantasy VII article, if we have links anywhere. Maybe include a small section heading in the article, with a sentence or two each describing the two games, and a third entry of roughly similar length discussing the Compilation series in general (with appropriate links, of course, to the larger articles). And, indeed, it probably couldn't hurt to have "see also" links to both other games from this article. But I really think it would be a mistake to set aside an entire heading of the article to discuss something that this article is not about (like having a section of the Final Fantasy IX article dedicated to describing Final Fantasy X, or something...). – Seancdaug 06:22, Jun 18, 2005 (UTC)

- The difference is that they are almost two completely different games apart from only the name and certain referrences. Technically speaking, it's not part of the Compilation but is a division of Final Fantasy VII, just like Before Crisis for example.
[edit] Non-Compilation titles
I removed the two entries (Final Fantasy VII Snowboarding and Final Fantasy VII Technical Demo) that aren't, technically speaking, part of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series. They were clearly labeled as such, which is good, but it seemed a little too confusing to have them tacked on to the end of the article. People interested in miscellaneous series spinoffs can find them in the Final Fantasy spin-offs category. That being said, it might actually be worth adding a new subcat to the above category to cover FF7 spin-offs. The Compilation category could be moved into a subcat of that, and we could also include things like the above two entries and Ehrgeiz. Does anyone think this would be a worthwhile endeavor? My only concern would be whether or not there are enough non-Compilation titles to justify the new category.... – Seancdaug 19:20, Jun 17, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] AdventChildren.net?
Maybe I'm being terminally dense, but the AdventChildren.net link that keeps getting inserted into all the Final Fantasy VII related articles really doesn't seem to cover much other than, well, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. It's got some interesting news items relating to a variety of FF7 spin-offs, but, by and large, such news items are transient, and are going to disappear after a few weeks/months. While the AC information is indeed impressive, and should be linked from the Advent Children article, and probably this page, as well, it strikes me as overkill to throw a link onto every single Final Fantasy VII page. Wikipedia is not a web directory, and we should really strive to ensure that every external link we include is the best of the best as far as the subject of the article goes. – Seancdaug 06:46, Jun 18, 2005 (UTC)
- Despite the URL, the site does indeed have extensive information on the entire compilation. The staff over there, where I used to work, does not incorporate the rest of the Compilation on the front page, but it is actually inside the forum. The forum is one of the largest Final Fantasy forums on the internet, and possesses extensive information on the Compilation. Uematsu even knows about them. I would by lieing to say that it's not adverising, but as previously mentioned in "Non Compilation titles", many of the viewers of the articles that has Adventchildren.net at the end, are indeed Final Fantasy VII fans, and the site as well as it's forums are immensely popular and the viewers will benefit from it. - The thing is, Wikipedia is not a fan site. It's a reference source. The question of whether or not Final Fantasy VII fans would find a site interesting is not a valid rubric by which to judge whether a link is relevant. The question is, does the link relate directly to the material being discussed in the article, and is it a useful resource for the uninitiated. And discussion forums very rarely are, to be honest. The news stories are, on the other hand, worthwhile in the general sense, but the transitory nature of those stories mean that linking it to every title within the Compilation would be a mistake. If someone came upon the link on the Dirge of Cerberus article at a time when, for instance, there was nothing new to report about Dirge of Cerberus, it would be unlikely to do more than annoy him/her. If there is substantial, permanent information on, say, Dirge of Cerberus or Crisis Core on the site, then, yes, it might indeed be worthwhile to include that information. But if it's not apparent how to actually access that information from the main page, then we should either not include the link, or link directly to the part of the site containing the relevant information. And it certainly doesn't belong in Final Fantasy VII, as that article does not deal with the Compilation in any substantial manner. None of which, I want to be absolutely clear, is a knock against the site itself: I'd not heard of it before, and it's already made its way into my bookmarks (which, for me, is a fairly impressive distinction). But there are literally hundreds of Final Fantasy-related sites on the Internet, and we can't include links to them all in every article.... – Seancdaug 00:44, Jun 19, 2005 (UTC)
- theres a sister site DirgeOfCerebrus.net, and they are working on a website of each game of the compilation. FF7Compilation.net has links to both AC and DoC sites, and has placeholders for the others. I'll go ahead and change AdventChildren.net to FF7Compilation.net.--Undc23 06:30, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Falling Apart: Final Fantasy VII?
There hasn't been any kind of official announcement of this even existing, has there? Or have I just completely missed this piece of news? There's no seperate page with any details/sources, none of the external links mention it, it doesn't seem to be backed up by anything. Kamina 14:08, 13 July 2005 (UTC)
- It's definately news to me. I can't find anything on it via Google. Maybe we should remove it in accordance with the Wikipedia is not a crystal ball policy. — Cuahl Image:NotAfraid.gif 7/7 — 14:57, 13 July 2005 (UTC)
I made a vfd page for the article here here Because I believe it to be a fake. I also put notification on this article. Psi edit
