Article on compassionate use program needs to be amended; Irv Rosenfeld is still very much alive and smoking. (Above unsigned comment by 216.170.142.17.)

Also, compassionate use programs don't apply exclusively to marijuana. I believe it refers to any drug that is not legally obtainable (yet) that is offered to patients who have no other avenues for treatment. (Above unsigned comment by 141.213.52.142.)

[edit] Rename?

Should this aricle be renamed? The correct title of the program is "Compassionate Investigational New Drug study program" or "Compassionate IND". If no one comments in a few days, I'm going to move it. ♫ Bitch and Complain Sooner ♫ 02:14, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

I found this on the FDA's website, "Emergency and Treatment INDs are also known as "Compassionate" INDs, but the term "Compassionate" is not in the IND regulations." -http://www.fda.gov/cder/about/smallbiz/faq.htm --65.67.135.59 04:38, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
Because, you know, the purpose of our Federal Government is never to be compassionate.
