[edit] Please expand

This page intends to list every distro of Wamp or Lamp packages It's obviously not exhaustive yet...

At the end it would be great if each maintainers of those distro update the version number for each new releases ^^

If you think this list don't fit in wikipedia, i'll put it elsewhere but since I saw lists of wiki soft or others softwares...

[edit] Packages versions

How about adding the latest stable version of Mysql, PHP, etc for comparisson? Or better yet, mark with bold when they have the lastest version of the package.

Is there any way can we do that automatictly?

[edit] A Comment on Adding Non-notable features

I know I've said this several times in edit comments, but I figured I'd put it here too. Please do not add non-notable features to the table. Which features are non-notable? The ones where only one product has them. This should be for the main stuff that at least a couple of the products share. ColdFusion650 21:08, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

But it is handy to see where they differ. But here the discussion starts: should this table only be about versions, or also about features? Now, the stars on the bottom are more confusing than handy, would be nice to see a small field of unique features of each product. --Hyphun 21:35, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

The Table is upside down, its records and fields should be replaced!

[edit] XAMPP

** XAMPP bundles for different OS slightly different packages, this list refers to XAMPP Linux

If this is a comparison of WAMP bundles, why are we concerned about the Linux package of XAMPP? 60.52.122.11 —Preceding signed but undated comment was added at 10:27, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] FTP & Email

I have been developing on WAMPs for more than 10 years. I have tried most at one time or another, and usually setup a test server just to give each major new release a try.

I noticed two things that are very important when it comes to WAMP packages that are missing from the list. Many packages include an FTP server (FileZilla or the like), and many also include a mail server (usually Mercury or hMailserver).

It would be very helpful to add columns to allow the listing of any FTP or Mail Server that may be included with the package. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.203.231.46 (talk) 16:48, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List Inclusion criteria

This list continues to attract spam and non-notable entries. To manage this, I think we need to follow WP:LIST closer and have inclusion criteria. Until we come up with something better, we should only list entries that have their own articles. --Ronz (talk) 03:10, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Introduction

I added a brief introduction to what WAMP is. I don't believe there is an article on WAMP, by the way. So my introduction was intended for people who have never HEARD of WAMP, don't know anything about web development or databases, etc. and just want to understand what they're looking at.

I don't suggest I've done the perfect job here and I would welcome any sort of cleanup. However, I would strongly suggest that the first paragraph be intended for people who are clueless.

[edit] column headings

Need an explanation of the column headings. Particular problem for SIZE. It should probably be "size of smallest compressed standard default package download", but needs a note that there may be smaller "lite" versions, and that the expanded runtime version will be larger.

Should have a flag for which ones will run "portable" (USB flash drive), and additional flag for which ones will run from write-locked media, such as CDs.

It is wrong for the XAMPP details to be listed for the Linux version instead of the Windows version.

Needs an additional column for "earliest Windows version" compatibility, so that Win98 users can find compatible packages without researching each individual package. -69.87.199.127 (talk) 15:27, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
