I think we should show a picture of the game's cover on this page.>--Taida 00:43, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Agreed, but I'll leave it for somebody else to deal with, for fear of screwing it up! Colossus 86 11:11, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Game balance and lack thereof

Not that I really see this happening, but I didn't notice any mention of the balance problems caused by the expansion in the article, and there were some in several of the other articles on the series, praising it for its Ally-information, Soviet-power dynamic. It seems pretty widely considered that Yuri's Revenge made Yuri's side incredibly powerful and the Soviets severely underpowered. But in the article, I don't see anything recognizing that. If no one else has run into this, then there's no point in making a note of it, but the page currently seems incomplete because there's no "reaction" section anywhere. -Insomniac By Choice 15:20, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Playing the game itself, i see that the weakness of each side is already compensated. Soviets lose Yuri, they have Boris. Allies still retain Tanya and she has new ability to resist mind control, but they have the Navy Seals (Navy Seals are not enabled in RA2 multiplayer, but they are playable in a certain Allies mission located in Yucatan, Mexico). Yuri has its own side, and definitely it is entirely up to the players strategy on how they defeat even the most difficult AI offense and defense setups possible. With further editing of the AI controls (AI are disabled by default) this will give the player a more challenging experience not the usual AI behavior when in default. -Awatanabe

[edit] Allied mission 2: Names of the celebrities

I've been playing the German version of Yuri's Revenge where those celebrities in the second mission of the Allied had unique names like "Flint Westwood" and saying phrases like "Smith and Wesson loaded" and such. When I was playing the English version, however, the names were changed to something like "hero" and "cowboy". Has this been changed with a patch? I'm just asking since this could be mentioned in a trivia section maybe. - Jack's Revenge 01:56, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Well, I think it was with earlier editions, the Hollywood celebrities were called "Flint Westwood", "Arnie Frankenfurter", and "Sammie Stallion", and they all had different voices, but then in later editions, the names were changed to "Cowboy", "Hero", and "Bodybuilder", respectively, plus, they shared the voices of the Allied GI. I think it was in a patch, that the celebrities' names and voices were restored, though I'm not really sure. --May the Edit be with you, always. T-borg (drop me a line) 10:23, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] All Your Base are belong to us

In one mission (i think it's an early sovjet mission, though i'm not completly sure) Yuri says something down the lines of "Give it up, comrad. soon, all your bases will belong to me". Could this be a reference to the popular phrase "All your base are belong to us", or is he just referring to his mind-controlling abilities?

Possibly. However, I suggest not to mention it in the article as long as we don't have any reliable source for that. - Jack's Revenge 22:51, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

It is an ingame taunt. It threats the player of incoming wave of attacks from the Yuri AI controlled side of the mission. Awatanabe

[edit] WP:VG assessment

Okay, I'm going to keep this game rated as Start-Class and rate it Low-Importance. Here are some ideas to get you up to B (or beyond):

  • Box cover image needs a fair use rationale. See WP:FURG.
  • This article could to with one of two screenshots of the actual game. Currently a reader of this article has no idea what the game looks like when playing it. A screenshot of a cutscene may also be useful to illustrate the plot.
  • I corrected some spelling mistakes and fixed a bit of formatting myself, but there are still a few things which need fixing per WP:MOS and basic grammar. Here are a couple of the most obvious things:
  • You're linking to the same articles (e.g. Albert Einstein, Moscow) an awful lot. Don't include a link to the article every time the phrase comes up. Given the currently length of the article, you'd only need to link to each thing once and that would be sufficient for the reader. WP:MOSLINKS.
  • In-line citations should go immediately after the adjacent punctuation, e.g. the castle is successfully captured from Yuri's hands [3]. should be the castle is successfully captured from Yuri's hands.[3]
  • Speaking of references, there aren't enough of them. WP:CITE. You may want to look at some of the templates at WP:CITET to give the references a consistent look.
  • Whenever possible, secondary sources are preferred over primary sources. You can cite from the game and its manual if there's no other source, and cite specific pieces of dialogue if it's from the game. See Final Fantasy X for a good way of laying out your game citations.
  • Gameplay section needs expansion, but make sure you don't go into too much detail per WP:NOT#GUIDE. Only include information which someone who will never play the game will find useful.
  • Plot section is perfect in terms of length. It just needs sources.
  • You're missing a couple of important sections: Development (Anything interesting happen during its development? When and where was it announced? When did it go gold? Did it keep to schedule?) and Critical Reception (What did reviewers say about the game, both good and bad?). Have a look at some of the articles listed at WP:VG#Featured content to see how they've done their Critical Reception and Development sections.
  • Lead needs expansion per WP:LS. I list this point at the end because it should summarise the entire article, and as it is there are large portions of the article missing.

Expanding Gameplay, adding Development and Critical Reception sections, more references and one or two screenshots would bring you up to a B. Hope this helps, Una LagunaTalk 07:08, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Moon reference?

The game then took place on the moon with Yuri, was probably refering to Yuri Gagarin 76.68.230.145 (talk) 22:32, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
