Talk:Combat!

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I deleted this:

"During the entire run of the series, the Germans never caught on to the fact that Lt Hanley's radio callsign was "Checkmate King 2" and Sergeant Saunders' was "White Rook". In reality, the callsigns would have been changed periodically.
  • "==Trivia==
"Combat! the TV series lasted from Fall 1962 to Summer 1967. Yet, World War II in France and Germany for the American Infantry, where the action was set lasted from the Normandy Invasion June 6, 1944 to (V-E) Victory in Europe Day May 7, 1945."

In the first, & obvious, case, it was a TV series, not real life, & viewers couldn't be expected to know, or care, the calls were unchanged; more important, the writers obviously didn't. (Rabb was Batman 1 in several episodes of JAG, probably for the same reasons.) Trivia? More like "who cares?". Show the significance or leave it out. Or mention M*A*S*H went them one better, lasting three times longer than the Korean War. Trekphiler 09:23, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

On a more substantive note, I've heard it got cancelled, despite hi (or adequate) ratings, due to the unpopularity of Vietnam. Can anybody confirm? Trekphiler 06:14, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Combat

Combat is a great show. I can't believe they left Combat out and it was a #1 show. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.189.130.147 (talk) 19:12, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
