• 1952: debut of Beyond Mars, American comic strip by Jack Williamson and Lee Elias
• 1958: first appearance of B.C., an American comic strip by Johnny Hart
• 1990: first publication of Fighting Spirit, Japanese manga created by Jyoji "George" Morikawa
• 2000: start of BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad, Japanese manga by Harold Sakuishi
