[edit] Fair use for Companion (Doctor Who)

This image, Companion.jpg, is being linked here; though the images contained in the collage are copyright © to the BBC, I (Wolf of Fenric (talk) 01:57, 17 December 2007 (UTC)) feel they are covered by the U.S. fair use law because:

1. The images in question are low-resolution cropped copies of publicity photographs released between 1963 and 2007 or cropped low-resolution screenshots;
2. The images are being used for informational purposes about lead characters from Doctor Who classified as 'companions';
3. The images are significant because they illustrate the characters detailed in the article, help identify those appearing in the black and white era and those appearing in the colour era and help show the order the companions first appeared as a companion in Doctor Who;
4. The use of the images in these articles will have no effect on the BBC's commercial use of the images in question.

This is a copyrighted image that has been released by a company or organization to promote their work or product in the media, such as advertising material or a promotional photo in a press kit. The copyright for it is most likely owned by the company who created the promotional item or the artist who produced the item in question; you must provide evidence of such ownership. Lack of such evidence is grounds for deletion.
