The Egyptians have sources confirming the existence of secret US prisons

MELDUNG/ÜBERSETZUNG:
Message from the Foreign Ministry of Egypt / Direction of European affairs.

- The embassy has learned from its own sources that 23 Iraqi and Afghan citizens have indeed been interrogated in Mihail Kogalniceanu base in the town of Constanţa on the shores of the Black Sea. Similar interrogation centres exist in Ukraine, Kosovo, Macedonia and Bulgaria. One of the newspapers has mentionned that the NGO Human Rights Watch has evidence that US military planes flew detainees from Salt Pit base in Kabul to Szymany base in Poland and the aforementioned base in Romania on 21 and 22 September 2005.

- In spite of all exposed facts, Romanian authorities continue to deny the presence of secret prisons used by US intelligence services to interrogate Al-Qaida members. The spokesperson of the European delegation has acknowledged the official Romanian denials.

Signed: the Minister.
