Illustration of a combinatorial species structure on a set of five elements. This style of diagram is standard in the field, being used for example by André Joyal in his original paper. One difference is that many authors place an arc across the fibres, rather than having them converging to a point. The variation used here means that illustrations of the substitution and functorial composition operations will be in a consistent style.
