He was Governor General of Pondicherry between 1826 – August 2, 1828. He was the founder of Lycée Français de Pondichéry (Collège Royal) in 26 October 1826. He considered as the inventor of the welding to lead.

He married Athénaïs-Claire-Joséphine-Grace on June 10, 1829 in Paris.

He died in 26 June 1859 in Paris.
