Computer russification

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In computing, Russification (Russian: русификация) is the localization of computers and of software, i.e., making the user interface of a computer and software to communicate in Russian language and Russian alphabet.

Among the problems associated with Russification was absence of a single character encoding standard for Russian / Cyrillic alphabet, see Cyrillic alphabet#Computer encoding before the advent of the unicode.
