Compress Da Audio
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Compress 'Da Audio (or CDA) was the first MP3 warez release group, founded on 13 August 1996 by a man nicknamed NetFraCk on IRC (EFnet).[1]
In the same month, "NetFrack" gave an interview on CDA's behalf to "MrMister" for Affinity magazine. According to the magazine, the first song ever released by the group in the MP3 format was Metallica's Until It Sleeps. It was "ripped" by "NetFrack" on 10 August 1996.[2]
The MP3 groups that followed in CDA's footsteps were founded in the following order: Digital Audio Crew (DAC), Rabid Neurosis (RNS), Apocalypse Production Crew (aPC).
After "NetFrack" stepped down, presidency of CDA was passed onto "MrMister".
