Compilation (also known as Caustic Window Compilation) is the first and only full length acid house-techno album by Richard D. James released under his pseudonym of Caustic Window. The album was released on 1 June 1998 (see 1998 in music).
The album consists of most of the tracks from the EP's Joyrex J4 EP, Joyrex J5 EP, Joyrex J9i and Joyrex J9ii combined onto one CD. The album contains James' signature acid house sensibilities with a more aggressive tone than most. It mostly features repetitive tracks performed on analogue synthesizers and drum machines, becoming more and more frantic as the album progresses.
- "AFX 114" (track 2) has the same drum rhythm as "Phlange Phace", which can be found on Aphex Twin's early Xylem Tube EP and the Classics compilation.
- "The Garden of LINMIRI" was featured in a television advertisement for Pirelli tires featuring Carl Lewis running around New York City with tire treads on his feet.
- "WE ARE THE MUSIC MAKERS (HARDCORE MIX)" is a remix (or an entirely new version) of "We Are the Music Makers" from James' debut album, Selected Ambient Works 85-92. The "HARDCORE MIX" is much faster than the original, and features completely new beats (the only thing keeping the two songs related are the equipment the songs were recorded on, and the movie sample.)
