The Como Roundhouse, Railroad Depot and Hotel Complex is a collection of historic buildings in Como, Colorado.
[edit] History
The Denver, South Park and Pacific Railroad (DSPPR) reached Como in 1879. The 1880s saw construction of the Como Roundhouse, which was built by Italian stonemasons that had settled in the Como area, the Pacific Hotel, which burned down and was rebuilt in the 1890s, and the Como Depot.
Train service operated twenty-four hours a day in Como and the remained vital through the 1920s, when the completion of a nearby state highway (now U.S. Highway 285) reduced the need for rail traffic. The DSPPR was abandoned in 1937.[1]
