The Community Home Education Program is a public homeschool program in Orange County, California serving families with students in kingergarten through eighth grade. Ninth through twelfth grade students can attend Pacific Coast High School. There are four sites in Anaheim, Cypress, Costa Mesa, and Mission Viejo, respectively called CHEP-North, CHEP-West, CHEP-Central, and CHEP-South. When a family comes to CHEP they are assigned a teacher that helps them when they need it. The parents are given school books for their student and they write lesson plans and give those to their teacher as a progrees report on what their child is working on. Work samples are taken fom select subjects but other than that, all of the schoolwork is only seen by the parent and student. Almost all of the work is done at home but the teachers are always willing to help their students. Also available are classes that students can participate in and have the interaction of other children their age. Some parents do park days and parties to also socialize their child.
