Community Group

Community Group are a political party in the United Kingdom, based in Doncaster in South Yorkshire.

Its leader Martin Williams contested the constituency of Doncaster North at the 2005 general election, receiving 2,365 votes (the elected Labour MP, Ed Miliband, received 19,788 votes).

According to its 2004 accounts, the party's leader and nominating officer was Martin Williams, whilst Carol Williams was treasurer. The party had a membership of "6 Doncaster Metropolitan Borough councillors" (elected in the 2004 elections, and "11 town councillors".

Martin Williams and Carol Williams are Community Group councillors for the Thorne ward of Doncaster, as is Richard Walker. [1] Another councillor, Jessie Credland, stood for election as Mayor of Doncaster in 2005, coming fourth after the winner Martin Winter (Labour Party), Mick Maye (Independent) and Raymond Bartlett (Conservative Party.

Richard Walker and Jessie Credland have left the Community Group to sit as Independent members. The Community Group now has three members Ms Credland lost her seat to Labour in May 2008, with a new Community Group candidate standing against her.
