Community Foundation for the National Capital Region

The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region is a public charity founded in 1973 serving the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan region. It is the fifth largest community foundation nationally according to grants paid at over $83 million in 2005, and the ninth largest in terms of gifts received by donors at over $77 million, according to the Council on Foundations.[1]

It has affiliate foundations in three local jurisdictions: Prince George's County and Montgomery County, Maryland, as well as Alexandria, Virginia. It is currently led by Terri Lee Freeman, President.[2]
