[edit] Organisation
KNE is following the organisational structure described as democratic centralism. It has a tight relationship with the Greek student rally PKS (ΠΚΣ).
[edit] History
KNE was founded in 1968, with a decision of the Political Secretariat of the KKE, during the Greek military junta of 1967-1974, aiming in democracy, state independence and anti-imperialistic/anti-monopoly ideals.
In the early 90's, the KNE, KKE's youth wing split to form New Left Current (NAR). The majority of its youth in major cities, especially in Thessaloniki left to NAR. Despite the loss of many of its members, though, the KNE was quickly reorganized with new members, and became a popular youth organization.
