In the Aeroplane Over the Sea track listing | ||
|
"Communist Daughter" is the seventh track of the Neutral Milk Hotel album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea.
The track is the second shortest to be found on the album, next to "The Fool". It is also structured relatively simply in musical terms. In the key of G major, the song follows a simple I-V-IV-IV pattern (or G-D-C-C).
Though the song is driven by Jeff Mangum's vocal and acoustic guitar performance, there is an undercurrent of other elements as well. Throughout the entire song, recorded sound effects and noise pan in and out of the left and right audio channels. At certain points of a song, an organ is played, and at the end of the song, a horn part is repeated.
