There has been some speculation about the possibility of there being a Commonwealth Winter Games in 2010 held in Kashmir. Apparently Gulmarg, where the Indian National Winter Games have been held in the past, would be the venue of the games.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is reported as saying "Kashmir would be developed as an industrial destination and paradise of tourism. In this direction, Kashmir has been selected as spot across for holding 2010 Commonwealth Winter Sports"

The other possible venue for the Commonwealth Winter Games being mooted is Himachal Pradesh
