Common Burying Ground and Island Cemetery on Farewell and Warner Street in Newport, Rhode Island was founded in 1640 and contains over 5,000 graves including a colonial era slave cemetery and Jewish cemetery. The cemetery was added to the National Historic Register in 1974.[1]
