Commodore's Messenger Organization
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Commodore's Messenger Organization (CMO) is a unit in the Church of Scientology organization that communicates and enforces policies of the Religious Technology Center.[1][2] It was created by L. Ron Hubbard in 1969 while he was living aboard the Sea Organization ship called the Apollo. These messengers were his personal administrative assistants and operated solely under his direction, ensuring that Scientology management was following Hubbard’s policies.[3] In 1981, with Hubbard in seclusion, the CMO wrestled control of Scientology from Mary Sue Hubbard and her Guardian's Office in what was, in effect, a bloodless coup. At the time the CMO included approximately 50 Sea Org officers compared to more than a thousand in the Guardian's Office.
