From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow is a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit organization whose stated mission is to promote free market solutions to environmental problems. According to its Web site, CFACT provides "a positive alternative to major environmental groups like Greenpeace, the Sierra Club, and Friends of the Earth."[1] CFACT produces online articles and radio segments on environmental and consumer subjects. In addition, CFACT coordinates the work of affiliate chapters, called Collegians for a Constructive Tomorrow, on college campuses across the United States. CFACT’s funding comes from foundations, business and private citizens.

[edit] Funding
A large proportion of CFACT’s funding comes from corporations in the energy and automobile industries, as well as conservative foundations. Its financial backers include The Exxon Mobil Corporation,[6] The Chevron Corporation,[7] The DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund,[8] The U.S. Council on Energy Awareness,[9] The Carthage Foundation, and The Sarah Scaife Foundation.[10]
[edit] Activities on College Campuses
CFACT college chapters are frequently involved in student group funding disputes with other environmental and public policy organizations. For instance, CFACT often criticizes Public Interest Research Groups (PIRGs) as liberal environmental and consumer organizations.[11] CFACT college chapters try to secure equal funding for conservative organizations or make the funding voluntary.[12]
[edit] Environmental issues
CFACT is a member organization of the Cooler Heads Coalition, which aims at "dispelling the myths of global warming."[13] CFACT has also received more than $542,000 from Exxon Mobil to question the validity of global warming.[14]
CFACT chapters have protested in defense of ExxonMobil[15] and in opposition to the Kyoto Protocol.[16] CFACT supports ANWR drilling[17] and defends SUVs as "not the safety or environmental villains."[18]
