Commit Suiside was a Swedish band active between 1983 and 1986, of which Ulf Ekberg of Ace of Base and Anders Klarström, politician for the Sweden Democrats, were members. Other members were Jens Svensson and Jens Larsson.[1][2] Their song lyrics were aggressively Neo Nazi.
Commit Suiside they had a small fan base in Gothenburg. They held a few performances in Gothenburg, the largest being an outdoor concert on the city Aveny.
Ekberg later denied that he was ever a Nazi, including in a 1995 television interview in the United States.[3] As a rebuttal for his "cowardism",[3] a compilation of the songs was released on a limited edition CD called Uffe Was A Nazi! A Compilation Of Nazi Songs Performed By Ulf Ekberg (Ace Of Base) by Flashback Records in 1998. The record also contained a booklet with pictures of Ekberg from this time, including three pictures where he makes a Hitler salute, one picture where he wears a KKK t-shirt and another one where he wears a swastika t-shirt. Pictures of the Hitler salute had first surfaced in Expressen in 1997.[3]
The songs on the record Uffe Was A Nazi! are quite explicit - for instance it contains a Swedish-language cover of Skrewdriver's "Smash the IRA" renamed "Smash the VPK".[4] Other songs titles were "Vit makt, svartskalleslakt" and "Rör inte vårt land".[3] The record made international news, being was played on Israeli radio, German TV, Reuters as well as media in Norway, Finland, Denmark and USA.[5]
