Commercial scramjet
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The development of the commercial scamjet can be likened to that of the worlds first supersonic airline, although the race was won by the then Soviet Union with their Tupolev Tu-144. However the British/French Concorde was the only one to endure the test of time and achieve commercial success. The race has now began to build the worlds first commercial scramjet, i.e., the first aircraft capable of transporting paying customers by means of scramjet technology. This time the race looks to be between Boeing, Airbus and United Aircraft Building Corporation, that is the US, France, and Russia respectively. Currently only the Russians are the only ones to confirm their desire to build the worlds first commercial scramjet by committing funds to the project.
