Commercial Photographers International (CPI) is an energetic, non-profit membership organization carefully focused on the changing needs of commercial photographers. Led by successful commercial photographer volunteers and a skilled professional staff, CPI has put together information, resources and materials for photographers in this rapidly changing industry. Whether it is advertising photography, material for a catalogues or illustrations for a website, CPI is prepared to serve all the needs of today’s commercial photographer.
Business Advice and Resources: CPI provides a plethora of information on every aspect of commercial photography through the Members Only section at www.MyCPI.com. Members even have an online Studio Advisor, filled with legal information, how-to’s, and sample agreements and available 24/7. There is also a directory that allows photographers to find everything they need while on assignment. Members can even find a qualified photo assistant through CPI’s website.
Business Protection: The Errors and Omission Protection Plan (the Indemnification Trust) is offered through a non-profit trust fund. This E&O plan gives members unparalleled protection from problems that may arise while covering an assignment. CPI has also negotiated better insurance packages including Equipment Insurance, Business Liability Insurance, and Health Insurance options.
Continuing Education and Convention: CPI offers its members the Commercial Photographers Conference, which is the single best place to get needed industry-specific information through both educational programs and networking with other professionals.
Copyright Protection: CPI’s Copyright & Government Affairs Department works in the halls of Congress, at the Copyright Office, in company boardrooms, and in court protecting members’ rights. CPI’s copyright specialists are also available to help members learn how to protect their rights and offer assistance when they are the victims of copyright infringement.
