[edit] Song History
The first song that Gloria performed and also the first single since her tragic accident on that bus when her "Get on Your Feet Tour" was in full process, the song is inspired by her near-fatal accident and also more than anything in Emilio Estefan, Jr., Gloria’s husband, that always supports her in every way and was with her until all this dark time ended for the Estefans and for the Gloria’s fans.
The song is a soft-pop song filled with nostalgia and a lot of church choirs, in the choirs are included Gloria’s full-time partner, the Cuban singer Jon Secada, and the R&B singer Betty Wright, that both were sung to Gloria’s choir on the past album, Cuts Both Ways and also made the choirs too not for just this song, but for the entire album Into the Light.
"Coming Out of the Dark" is considered as a great hit of Gloria and was her last number one at U.S. to date.
[edit] Spanish Version "Desde La Oscuridad"
Gloria recorded also the Spanish version of the song, called "Desde la Oscuridad," and its have the same sense that the original song, but with the difference that is in another language. The song was released to Latin radio-stations and the considerable Airplay received, took the song to the Top Five of the Hot Latin Songs chart.
