Comet de Vico
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
de Vico is the name of three comets discovered by Father Francesco DeVico, a Jesuit priest: C/1845 D1 (a.k.a. 1845 II, discovered 1845 February 25), C/1846 B1 (a.k.a. 1846 I, discovered 1846 January 24), and C/1846 S1 (a.k.a. 1846 VIII, discovered 1846 September 23).
"Miss Mitchell's Comet" (1847 VI, Comet Mitchell, modern designation C/1847 T1), discovered by Maria Mitchell in New England on 1847 October 1, was first attributed to de Vico (who independently discovered it two days later) because the latter reported it from Rome.
