Come into ones own

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When a person is said to be "Coming into their own", it can be taken as said person being (of their own opinion) an expert of the topic in question.

For example, A during conversation between Scott and David regarding the Boer War, David said "Ah, the Boer War, that's where i come into my own".

This is another way of David claiming he is an expert of the subject of the Boer War in his own opinion, regardless of if he actually is or not. That could be decided for yourself.

"Coming into your own" is of course entirely subjective.

Ones mans meat is another mans poison.

In this case, one mans correct answer to the question, correct war, correct continent and in fact correct spelling of boar is another mans incorrect answer and poor historical and geographical fact.
