[edit] Plot
Ted, having given up his previous date with his supposedly perfect match, has decided to pursue Robin yet again. Barney (acting on behalf of the Universe) slaps Ted, telling him it's a bad idea. Ted tells them that he will try only one more time, and if it doesn't work out, then he will quit trying, as it's not meant to be. He then surprises her in her apartment with candy, flowers, and a group of musicians with blue instruments (in reference to the Blue French Horn). Robin, while surprised, can't give Ted a definite answer, especially after he learned that Robin's company camping trip is back on and Sandy Rivers is trying to date Robin now that he is moving on to CNN. Ted walks out frustrated, but breaks his promise by trying to get Robin again by doing a rain dance. After he convinces a girl Barney hooked up with twice to help him (as she has studied Native American rain dances), Ted tries to do a rain dance, which ultimately (in Ted's mind) proves successful, as he goes over to Robin's and finally establishes a solid relationship with her.
While Ted is finally finding success, Marshall is encountering the opposite. After having learned about Lily's acceptance into the art fellowship, he begins to worry, and Marshall and Lily argue almost non-stop as to what will happen. They, however, have a pause function with their arguments, which allows them to temporarily drop the argument to do something else (in the episode, they pause 3 times, with one to eat food, and another time for sex.) However, the argument does not end well. As Ted walks back in the rain from Robin's apartment, he encounters Marshall sitting on the steps of their apartment complex holding Lily's engagement ring. Ted comforts him, knowing that Marshall has lost the only girl he had ever known, whilst Future Ted states "In just one night, everything had changed"
[edit] Music

- Bach - Air
[edit] Trivia
- Ted jokes that he plans to win Robin by making her a mix CD. In the DVD commentary, the cast says that Josh Radnor actually makes really good mix CDs.
- The voice on the answering machine is that of the script supervisor Janet Kagen.
- Guest stars Alexis Denisof and Amy Acker previously worked together and with Alyson Hannigan on Angel.
- The actor who plays the weatherman in this episode also played Vampire Lou in "Mary the Paralegal." The weatherman's name is also Lou.
- The same choreographer choreographed Ted's rain dance in this episode and Marshall's dance number in "Okay Awesome." She also played Barney's cousin Leslie in that episode.
- Alyson Hannigan messed up the dialogue in Marshall and Lily's break up scene, but the footage was used anyway.
- Amy Acker and Neil Patrick Harris are really good friends, and in the DVD commentary Harris says that he was really nervous having to kiss Acker.
[edit] Cultural References
Ted jokes that someone who has seen couple episodes of ER will perform brain surgery on him.
[edit] Errors
- Robin is much wetter when she goes back into her apartment than she looks when her head is out the window.
- Barney's ex girlfriend states their relationship was sex in Barney's car twice. Barney cannot drive and therefore it is doubtful that he owns a car.
