The English collaboration of the week process began on April 29, 2004†. The winners for each week are listed below, along with a brief summary of how it was improved during its featured week.

The template {{past cotw|date|year}} should be added to the talk pages of past collaborations.

To get the link showing "Edits" go to the history section of the article, click the right of the two circles next to the article when it was no longer cotw, then go down to the edit where it was made cotw and click the left of the circles. (You may have to click "View next 100' or 'next 250' if there were more than 50 edits between them) Then click "Compare selected versions." This will compare the version at the start of the collaboration with the version at the end of the collaboration. Copy the http link in the adress bar and paste in the column here. This version will also give you the links for the "See how it improved" part of the table - the link to the two Revisions "Revision as of 23:48, 5 December 2005 etc" at the top of the two columns are the two links to be used in the "See how it improved" section.

The number of words can be done by clicking on edit for each of the two revisions, selecting all, copy and paste into a word processor document and doing a word count. The percentage increase is the number of words in the 2nd version divided by the number in the 1st x 100.

  • On average, the size of each Collaboration of the week increases by around 700%. It means that by the end of the week, the size of a COTW is multiplied by 8.
  • Statistics (number of edits, contributors, size improvement), are taken and compared only between the first edit made after winning the Collaboration of the week title, and the last edit before the next collaboration of the week.
