[edit] Did you know...?

Hi, I've nominated an article you worked on, Penmanshiel Tunnel, for consideration to appear on the Main Page as part of Wikipedia:Did you know. You can see the hook for the article at Template talk:Did you know#Articles created on July 10 where you can improve it if you see fit.

Thanks Ed, will take a look.
Updated DYK query On 16 July 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Penmanshiel Tunnel, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

[edit] copyright violation for ariel image on stadium:mk page

Hi - I noticed your note about the ariel image on stadium:mk concerning copyright violation.

I was the user who originally posted this image onto the wikipedia commons after seeking permission of the owner of the now defunct mkdonsrus.com.

My apologies if this has caused you or your father offence or loss in anyway.

With regard to the images removal, you are of course entirely within your rights to remove it. I feel however that this image is unique in it's recording of this particular view of the stadium at that point in time, and so I would be delighted if you'd consider leaving it in place as I feel it really adds something to the article.

If you wish me to alter the copyright notice and attribution in order that the image might remain let me know and I'd be more than happy to do so.

Thanks

Hi Zorro, no offence has been caused by you, as I am happy to assume good faith on your part. I'll speak to my father and see if he is willing to leave the image in place with redirected accreditation. I agree its a great shot and would be a shame to remove it totally - please leave in place until I have had the opportunity to discuss it with him. ColourSarge (talk) 12:49, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 'Big Four' GA push

Thanks for getting the ball rolling on this. I know I suggested the whole idea, but I'm not going to be able to contribute hugely (very busy off-WP). My apologies. I'll help out where I can, indeed, have already started as Geoff has done some groundwork on the GWR article. (I know about the GWR, and have books; I don't know that much about the others.)

What is interesting, from the little thinking I've already put into the GWR article, is that we will start to see where there are articles or lists missing. For example, why isn't there a page which lists the civil engineering features? (Wharncliffe Viaduct,Sonning Cutting, Maidenhead Railway Bridge, Severn Tunnel, and many more besides.) This would not need to be a list page, it would be straightforward to arrange as prose. Also missing is a list of GWR CMEs. Etc, etc.

Keep up the good work.

No problem, although I'm working on the LMS article at the moment, just to concentrate on the lowest class articles first, it's good to see the interest spreading. Hopefully this is an area in which I can make a good contribution, instead of just tinkering round the edges! ColourSarge (talk) 01:22, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
