[edit] Don't worry too much...

about a 3 hour 3RR ban. Even William Connolley had a ban for 3RR long ago: that's probably why he is very firm (rightly though, IMHO). If you get wound up again come and tell someone. It is daft reverting again just so someone can revert back again... :)--BozMo talk 20:46, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

don't try to change the rules. try to understand them. a wrong page is less important avoiding squabbles...--BozMo talk 22:40, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your signature

Hello Colin, your signature contains this wikicode:

{{#if: Canada |
{{country_flagicon|Canada|Canada|size={{{size|}}}}}
}}

This is a very odd construct. We are trying to update the flag templates, and as such, request that you simplify this to:

{{flagicon|Canada}}

It has the same visual effect, and will allow the "retirement" of the country_flagicon template. Thanks, Andrwsc 01:03, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Ah, ok, no worries! Your old signature turns up on dozens of pages that link to the country_flagicon template, which we're trying to replace, so that's what motivated my comment. Andrwsc 06:01, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

I've removed a lot of these. Please don't put a template call or an image in your sig ever again. See WP:SIG. --Ligulem 15:39, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List of anime conventions

Do you want to go through WP:RFC first? If that doesn't work, then mediation should be next. --Farix (Talk)

I'll look over the RFC process and see how it works. This is the first time I've started an RFC, so it may take a little while. --Farix (Talk) 20:51, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm sure Patrick will see his return, but I'm also going to notify all those who participated in the criteria's initial creation once the RFC goes up. --Farix (Talk) 21:03, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm removing Otafest from the list pending a reliable source is provided on its article regarding its attendance. Otafest is one of those cons who hasn't been reporting their attendance to AnimeCons.com or publishing it on their own website. And while it may be safe to assume their attendance is over 2K, we must use a source instead of our own assumptions before adding a con to the list. --Farix (Talk) 22:19, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Try to get them to send it to AnimeCons.com as well. The more we encourage reporting to AnimeCons, the better off we will be as a whole. --Farix (Talk) 22:35, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] HagermanBot

If you could tell me how to add HagermanBot to my talk page, that would be nice. --'•Tbone55•(Talk) (Contribs) (UBX) (autographbook) 19:23, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] In regard to AE

I got this information from Ejin, one of the executives of ARC, and Shelly, another ARC member. Basically, for 2007, we do not have clubs table, room booking problem, and etc. The explaination that so far we can come up is that executives of both ARC and AE had been writing off the volunteer BBQ off as an ARC fund, and may be more stuff that is somewhat related to AE, which caused SFU to treat us worse then before. What is certain is that at the very least, any AE staffs (or executives, uncertain) cannot serve as ARC executives.

That, and I heard that there was a TV broken during summer, and the SFU AV had blamed ARC for it, possibly but not necessary due to AE in this case. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 142.58.211.84 (talk) 23:02, 30 January 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Vet affairs canada.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Vet affairs canada.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Pinellas County Schools

Hi, Colin Keigher. I am an abuse report investigator, and for my report to be complete, I need a contactor. I saw your listing as a contactor for North America, and I wondered if you could enroll as the contactor for my case. If you are interested, it is posted at Wikipedia:Abuse reports as case 168.213.1.133. The abuse is from Florida. The full report is available at Wikipedia:Abuse reports/168.213.1.133. Thank you! [edit] Hi

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
Hi. I think you deserve this for repeatedly reverting vandalism and warning vandals, on a huge variety of articles, some of which frequently appear in my watchlist. Great work! AstroHurricane001(Talk+Contribs+Ubx) 18:24, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] reality

hello. I don't know why the post that I put on the reality page would be considered vandalism. I love to have a lively debate about the influence that Jean Baudrillard has on modern postmodern philosophy of reality. Perhaps, since you seem to be on Wikipedia right now, you would like to check it out: Jean Baudrillard. Beyond that, the information about Stephen Colbert in no way comprimises Wikipedia OR for that matter, detracts from the article about reality.

You have given no verifiable source for this insight, you have inserted into inappropriate articles, you have repeatedly re-inserted it after it has been approved, you have inserted it into protected pages -- pages protected specifically against your attacks -- and you have done so under a variety of aliases. All that makes you a vandal.1Z 23:48, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Modern philosophy of subjective truth supports the contention that 'reality is a commodity.' Furthermore, the statement that I added to the page was in no way false or misleading. Microsoft's disinformation on wikipedia is in line with the conception that money can buy the perception of reality. In fact, users who read and rely on wikipedia should be able to access information about the current debate on reality and its relation to the wikipedia project. Finally, wikipedia's "welcome page" to which you reverted me (which, thank you, I am award of), defines vandalism as: "any addition, removal, or change of content made in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia." I think I have shown why the post was not inteded and effectually did not comprimise the integrity of wikipedia. Beyond that, my justification should show that in no way was that my intention. Your removal of information posted on that page is much closer to vandalism than mine. Sadly, my complaint will likely go unheard. Why? Because Colbert is someone who makes jokes about the face that wikipedia may not be the utmost in reliable sources. That's true. But he also recognizes the potential that the web site has. You're rash action proved the point he's trying to make: when what "comprimises the integrity of wikipedia" is up to anyone, reality can be skewed. you, my friend, just did that. shame. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cheesewright (talkcontribs) 23:04, 7 February 2007 (UTC).

This is just not true. This makes no sense. Look to the contributions I have made - they are on Permutation theory in Parliamentary debate, the National Parliamentary Debate Assn, and the reality page. Please explain.

Just so you know, Gilbert Arenas actually does yell "Hibachi" when he makes a shot because hibachi is hot. I didn't make that up. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by DL12345 (talkcontribs) 18:03, 9 February 2007 (UTC).

[edit] PepsiCo

It's a book about an important period in Pepsi's history. I read the note about WP not being a "mere" collection of links (and I thought your personal opinion of WP's value is inappropriate and unnecessary), but it seems to me that if someone was interested in Pepsi, the time period this book discusses would be important. I don't really care if it has a link or not (if you're concerned about someone profiting, which you seem to be), a brief mention would be sufficient.

[edit] George Bush

I generally agree with your comment about calling someone an Idiot being a subjective rather than an objective statement but if in fact the person is an idiot:

Oxford English Dictionary: idiot • noun 1 informal a stupid person

Online Etymology Dictionary idiot • c.1300, "person so mentally deficient as to be incapable of ordinary reasoning," from O.Fr. idiote "uneducated or ignorant person,"

then the term is in fact highly description of them.

In the case of George W. Bush, any person who cannot realise that the following statements are idiotic is therefore technically, by definition from the dictionary, an idiot:

1. "I am here to make an announcement that this Thursday, ticket counters and airplanes will fly out of Ronald Reagan Airport." —Washington, D.C., Oct. 3, 2001

2. "Too many good docs are getting out of the business. Too many OB-GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country." —Poplar Bluff, Mo., Sept. 6, 2004

3. "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." —Washington, D.C., Aug. 5, 2004

4. "There's no doubt in my mind that we should allow the world worst leaders to hold America hostage, to threaten our peace, to threaten our friends and allies with the world's worst weapons." —South Bend, Indiana, Sept. 5, 2002.

5. "There's an old...saying in Tennessee...I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee that says Fool me once...(3 second pause)... Shame on...(4 second pause)...Shame on you....(6 second pause)...Fool me...Can't get fooled again." —Nashville, Tennessee, Sept. 17, 2002.

6. "See, free nations are peaceful nations. Free nations don't attack each other. Free nations don't develop weapons of mass destruction." —Milwaukee, Wis., Oct. 3, 2003

7. "The ambassador and the general were briefing me on the -- the vast majority of Iraqis want to live in a peaceful, free world. And we will find these people and we will bring them to justice." —Washington, D.C., Oct. 27, 2003.

8 "I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep on the soil of a friend." —on visiting Denmark, Washington D.C., June 29, 2005

9. "Wow! Brazil is big." after being shown a map of Brazil by Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Brasilia, Brazil, Nov. 6, 2005

10. "Rarely is the question asked, 'Is our children learning'?" —Florence, S.C. Jan 11 2000

11. "The illiteracy level of our children are appalling." —Washington, D.C., Jan. 23, 20004

12. "I would say the best moment of all was when I caught a 7.5 pound largemouth bass in my lake." --on his best moment in office, interview with the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag, May 7, 2006

13. "You know, one of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror." --interview with CBS News' Katie Couric, Sept. 6, 2006

14. "Anybody who is in a position to serve this country ought to understand the consequences of words." --interview with Rush Limbaugh, Nov. 1, 2006

15. "The only way we can win is to leave before the job is done." --Greeley, Colo., Nov. 4, 2006

Saying George W. Bush is an idiot is therefore an objective statement.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Fip-sig-mnd e.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Fip-sig-mnd e.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] userpage

Hi. Just in case you wanted to know, I noticed that an anon had taken out part of a sentence in your about section and replaced it with a half-bracketed link to lolwiki. I felt that it sort of broke the thing, so I reverted it. In case the edit was not vandalism or was legitimate, feel free to revert it back (although I can't see why a broken link thing is nessecary). Thanks. ~AH1(TCU) 22:16, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Scr0001.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Scr0001.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion.
