- The user was then "blocked indefinitely", but we all learned something about Talk page ownership. Anonymous (I.P. number) users do not own their own pages, and cannot remove material from their Talk pages. Colfer2 (talk) 22:23, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Charlottesville, Virginia
The last line of the local media blogs states each blog/url with the content owner: readthehook-hook, cvillenews-waldo, how is cVillain-DeParis Redinger any different?
- Better not to credit me at all, IMHO, than go down the road of crediting each owner of each named blog. Honestly, I'm not sure that any of us ought to be listed at all. I can't see why any of these three blogs should be listed in an entry about something as broad as the entire city.--WaldoJ 18:43, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Can we discuss this on Talk:Charlottesville, Virginia ? I'll post there. Colfer2
[edit] The Great Santa Claus Switch
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of The Great Santa Claus Switch, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/The_Great_Santa_Claus_Switch. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 15:55, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
- OK, I fixed it by removing material similar to the Muppet Wiki's article. Colfer2 (talk) 16:25, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:KateBrewster.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:KateBrewster.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla (talk) 21:44, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fixing Bad Edits
I would suggest that you can fix the edit or delete it but you should 1) make sure the edit history explain what you did and why 2) note it on the talk page. There is the 3 revert rule so try to avoid edit warring. If there is a conflict arising you can ask other editors and eventually an admin to help resolve it. Hope that helps. --Torchwood Who? (talk) 20:44, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] References
On your reversion, you deleted my included references to David Patterson. Uconnstud (talk) 21:23, 12 March 2008 (UTC) so my mentioning his disability is vandalism? and the fact that he isn't the first disabled gov is vandalism? Uconnstud (talk) 21:55, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Talk:David Paterson. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Uconnstud (talk) 22:02, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- Uconnstud put the same erroneous warning on the talk page of Jaysweet (talk · contribs) after Jaysweet put it on Uconnstud's Talk page. Vandal amok. Colfer2 (talk) 22:07, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

- FYI, I have filed a 3RR report at WP:ANI/3RR. I am hesitant to call it outright vandalism, which is why I went that route instead of WP:AIV, but hey, whatever gets the message through to this guy is fine with me! :) --Jaysweet (talk) 22:14, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] sockpuppet accusations
If you think someone is a sockpuppet of another user, either report at WP:SSP or WP:ANI. Do not make accusations on talk pages. J.delanoygabsadds 21:30, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- That makes sense. The template was not admin-only, but I agree with you. Thanks. I will remove it if it is still there. - Colfer2 (talk) 21:39, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Hey
The guys name is JzG not Jayz [1] Uconnstud (talk) 06:22, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
Just to let you know there are no hard feelings. I tried to aleviate a situation and it got out of hand. I've moved on past you and didn't mention Metros. I didn't think it was nice the way in which JzG spoke to me. He has other complaints by other users in the way he spoke to them. You can view is here if you're interested. I know my grammar isn't great, but to make what you said more clear change " I you block him" to "if you block him" [3] Uconnstud (talk) 06:31, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- The above comments by Uconnstud concern the "References" section above. He was blocked and much admin action followed. - Colfer2 (talk) 06:34, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Tandem?
I was just curious as to what wikipedia guideline I could cite that would allow me to erase the Controversy header under the article Tandem Friends School. I know it is not an accurate statement, but how can I justify my actions to everyone else? Community service (talk) 03:00, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- I deleted that section of Tandem Friends School, which made inflammatory accusations, and did not cite any sources. It had been flagged for three weeks "citation needed", and other Wiki policies would apply as well. Thanks for mentioning it! - Colfer2 (talk) 03:21, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Template:NYStatewideOfficials
Thanks for fixing the edit I made today. I wasn't sure how to correctly add that information to the template. Again, thanks. --SMP0328. (talk) 23:19, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Hulu
To Colfer2 -- Why did you decide to revert my addition to the History section about the Hulu keynote presentation and demo at the National Broadcasters show? I think this is relevant to those looking to research the company and (yes) its history. It was a landmark event for the site, as that is where many distinctions were drawn between Hulu and the other online-video/video-on-demand sites, and it also outlined Hulu's relationship to (or rather up against) YouTube. -68.174.101.64 (talk · contribs)

[edit] GE Fanuc Automation
You made two changes to the article on GE Fanuc Automation:
- You changed <references/> to {{reflist}}. As far as I know, there is no consensus on using the template over the tag. The Wikipedia:Citing sources article lists both and the Template:Reflist page says "Note that there is no consensus that small font size should always be used for all references; when normal-sized font is more appropriate on an article, use <references /> instead." In general, aren't we supposed to avoid making such changes? (In a comment on Wikipedia:Bots/Requests_for_approval/Rschen7754bot_3, administrator kingboyk said "Tasks like this (changing one perfectly valid way of doing things to another, without a clear mandate) is exactly the sort of thing that tends to result in a mass of complaints and frenzied posting on the admin boards. You need to show at least consensus from the WikiProject and ideally a wider consensus, showing that reflist is now the preferred way.")
- You changed the Charlottesville category to Albemarle County. I see you have been going through and cleaning up a lot of pages in that way. I read the article on independent cities and the article on Charlottesville and Albemarle and I think you are saying that GE Fanuc is not in Charlottesville proper. However the company says it is headquartered in Charlottesville and it's postal address is in Charlottesville. If I go to the Category:Charlottesville, Virginia page to see what companies are in Charlottesville, I would expect to see GE Fanuc...
Although I have been a contributor to Wikipedia for a number of years, I still consider myself a novice when it comes to policy issues, so please understand that these questions are asked in all humility with the full knowledge that I may not know what I'm talking about. --Ishi Gustaedr (talk) 22:25, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] What county is Charlottesville in?
Is there something I'm missing about political geography? Are cities like Charlottesville not in the counties that surround them? The article on Albemarle County lists Charlottesville as the county seat. How then would it be inappropriate to include Charlottesville in the category of articles on things related to Albemarle County? Jbening (talk) 11:54, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Charlottesville is surrounded by Albemarle County but politically independent. See Independent city#Virginia. It's like that all over Va. In fact, Charlottesville itself surrounds a little piece of Albemarle, the courthouse and county office building. -Colfer2 (talk) 12:05, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Also, I believe Wikipedia categories WP:CAT work by hierarchical inclusion, not relatedness. In particular, see: Help:Category#Category_considerations, which means Cville and Alb. could not contain each other as conceptual categories. -Colfer2 (talk) 12:10, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] unassigned superdelegates
Thanks for fixing the "unassigned superdelegates" in the tables at Democratic Party (United States) presidential primaries, 2008. I've been wondering what's up with those. For a long time, it said 2, then someone changed it to 48. I see you've now identified 5 as the right number. You might consider putting a footnote for explanation so that it doesn't get changed again. Northwesterner1 (talk) 00:08, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- thanks! Northwesterner1 (talk) 02:32, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
Any specific reason why you reverted this edit ? Lars 14:01, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
- I'm unsure it's the most important show ever aired on NBC, and hence deserves to be the only one with a See Also link. -Colfer2 (talk) 14:14, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
- In Europe this show was a big success, that is the reason why I added it there. Lars 14:34, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
