[edit] To prevent leaving behind fingerprints

In the Spider novel The Dictator of Crime, while in disguise as a street ruffian, the Spider (Richard Wentworth) smeared his hands with collodion to prevent leaving behind fingerprints. Would this work?

[edit] Toxic?

I'm not sure if this chemical should be labeled as "toxic". The NFPA diamond heath warning is only a 2, which is "Intense or continued but not chronic exposure could cause temporary incapacitation or possible residual injury" according to the wikipedia entry on the diamond. It is toxic like ethanol is toxic, or ether is toxic, that if you take too much, or take a certain amount over a long time, then it is toxic. The MSDS lists a fairly large LD50 for this solution. It seems the main toxicity from this solution is the ether and the alcohol used in it. 147.155.182.25 (talk) 03:25, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
